Bahir Dar Mechanization and Food Science Research Center held Scaling out on pre & post harvest technologies in Bahir Dar Zuria & Burie woredas from 21- 23 October, 2012.

Director of the research center, Ato Abu Tefera, in his opening remark expressed that Bahir Dar Mechanization and Food Science Research Center is strongly working with farmers & other stakeholders to deliver pre& post harvest technologies which can enhance production and productivity.

በአማራ ክልል ግብርና ምርምር ኢንስቲትዩት የአዴት ግብርና ምርምር ማዕከል የተለያዩ አማራጭ የድንች ቴክኖሎጅዎችን የማስተዋወቅና የቅድመ-ማስፋፋት ስራ በይልማና ዴንሣ ወረዳ አካሄደ፡፡ የአዴት ግብርና ምርምር ማዕከል ዳይሬክተር ዶ/ር ተስፋየ ፈይሣ በመክፈቻ ንግግራቸው ማዕከሉ ቀድመው የሚደርሱና በሽታን የሚቋቋሙ የተሻሻሉ የድንች ዝርያዎችን ያወጣ መሆኑን ገልፀው የምግብ ዋስትናን ለማረጋገጥ በሚደረገው ርብርብ ከፍተኛ ሚና አለው ብለዋል፡፡ በመስክ ቀኑ ከግብርና ቢሮ ፣ ከባህር ዳር ዩኒቨርሲቲ፣ ከግብርና ምርምር ኢንስቲትዩት፣ ከወረዳ ግብርና ጽ/ቤት አርሶ አደሮች እንዲሁም የማዕከሉ ተመራማሪዎችና የድጋፍ ሰጭ ሠራተኞች ተሳትፈዋል፡፡

National Potato Workshop Held

The National Potato Research Project based at Adet Research Center organized a national workshop from March 12-14/2012 at ARARI HQ, Bahir Dar. The theme of the workshop was “Potato Seed Tuber Production and Dissemination: Experiences, Challenges and Future Prospects”.

Over 80 participants from national and regional research institutes, regional bureaus of agriculture, private companies, International Potato Research Center (CIP) have taken part in the workshop. Renowned scientists and researchers that have long years of experience on potato research have also attended the workshop.

Over 25 different scientific papers have been presented and discussed. The workshop was concluded by forming a technical committee that works out a strategy on potato seed production, dissemination, regulation, disease management and similar issues.
